I Snapped at Steve… And It Wasn’t About the Shoes

👞

I snapped at Steve the other day… and honestly, it wasn’t about him.

He was heading to Florida for the weekend. A business trip.
And I was staying behind… holding down the fort.

The house.
The dog.
The studio.
The spa.
Classes to teach.
A special event that would take me out for hours.
An evening hospital appointment.

And there it was.
The tipping point.

His shoes. Left at the door.

That’s it. That’s what did it.

And I snapped.

💭

THE REALIZATION

The truth?

It had nothing to do with the damn shoes!

It was the mental load.
The constant running list in my head.
The feeling of being pulled in ten different directions at once.

I’m not typically a snapper.
But in that moment, I felt completely at my wits’ end.

And what made it worse?

I didn’t even want to teach a class.

I wanted to be in the class.

🔥

THE SHIFT

So instead of pushing through… I paused.

I went downstairs.
Got on my reformer.
Pulled up one of my favourite YouTube instructors.

And I worked.

Like really worked.

Full body. Head to toe. No distractions.

And something shifted.

WHY IT WORKED

Sometimes life throws so many things at us all at once…
our minds just can’t keep up.

We try to fix it the “nice” ways:

  • journaling

  • a cup of tea

  • a quiet bath

And don’t get me wrong… those are beautiful tools.

But sometimes?

They don’t cut it.

Sometimes you don’t need to sit with your thoughts…

👉 You need to get out of your head and back into your body.

That’s what movement does.

It releases the tension.
It resets your breathing.
It gives your mind a break from carrying everything.

💡

THE TAKEAWAY

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately…
snappy…
tight…
like everything is just a little too much…maybe just too much winter.

You’re not alone.

And you’re not broken.

You might just need to move.

Not perfectly.
Not gracefully.

Just move.

That one workout completely changed my day.

Not because it fixed everything…
but because it gave me back to myself.

And sometimes?

That’s all we need.

FINDING YOUR BALANCE

That day reminded me of something important.

It’s not always about slowing down.
And it’s not always about pushing harder.

It’s about knowing what you need… and when you need it.

Sometimes your body is asking for stillness.
A quiet moment. A journal. A cup of tea.

And sometimes?

It’s asking you to move.
To sweat.
To shake off the weight of everything you’ve been carrying.

The magic is in finding the balance between the two.

Not living in one… and ignoring the other.

That one workout completely changed my day.

Not because it fixed everything…
but because it brought me back to myself.

And later that night, when things were quiet again…
I picked up my journal.

Different tools. Same goal.

Coming back to balance.
